2009 Labor Day Classic

Image
The battle for football supremacy continued between PV and TSU on September 5, 2009. The annual Labor Day Classic turned out to be another great game with the PVAMU Panters emerging victors over TSU Tigers. The Panters played an excellent game and won 17 -7 after the game was tied 7 each at the half. As usual, the bands put on a spectacular show. Here is the PVAMU "Marching Storm" during its half time performance. Photo by Noel

Oshkosh, Wisconsin

Image
We recently visited Oshkosh, WI. for a camping trip with our son. The trip was awesome and Wisconsin is a beautiful state. The lakes and landscape must make Wisconsin a photographers paradise in the Fall and Spring. It appears to be true that Bajans are everywhere because we were taking pictures by the Barbados flag and a man shouted "hey Bajie" while passing in his vehicle. Knowing that another Bajan was in the area helped to make the trip special. Our journey took us through Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois and Wisconsin and was almost 21 hours each way. What a road trip! We thought that was long until we found out that a guy rode 2000 miles from Washington State to Oshkosh on his bicycle.

Celebrating a life

Image
Yesterday I attended the homegoing celebration for the late Prof. George Edwards, former Band Director of the PVAMU Marching Storm. It was a bittersweet occasion. Bitter because of the loss of a father, child, sibling, friend, professor, musical genius etc. and sweet because of the accolades and thanks given to this legendary musician for a job well done. I remember attending serveral events just to hear what masterpieces the Marching Storm would perform under his direction. Yesterday they confirmed that his hard work was not in vain. In one of the tributes, he was deservingly described as the Quincy Jones of marching bands. The selections performed by the marching storm demonstrated why he was revered as a great musician. So you ask. What does this have to do with adventure? Well, the uncertainty of life makes it an adventure so we all should live our lives according to God's purpose. Remember, "the man without a purpose is like a ship without a rudder -- a waif, a nothing, a...

Welcome

Welcome to my so called page of adventures. It will not be long before you realize that what I consider to be adventure is quite mundane for other people. Consequently, those dearest to me recommended some other names which I decided may be best to pass up. Anyhow, here goes! This site will contain posts on anything from Geocaching trips to vacations.
